Dr. Strauss has served as an expert medical reviewer for the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners since 2019, where his objective evaluations have been crucial in assessing standards of care in various cases. He has also been a core faculty member and program director for a Family Medicine residency program, where he was instrumental in obtaining accreditation and managing the day-to-day operations of rural medical sites.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Strauss has held positions as a medical director for urgent care facilities, where he was responsible for everything from clinical oversight to community outreach and operations management.
